👩‍⚕️ Feeling powerless at the doctor’s office? Start here.

Hi Reader,

Have you ever walked out of a doctor’s office feeling more frustrated than helped?

You try to explain your symptoms, your history, what’s been working (and what hasn’t)—but instead of feeling heard, you’re met with interruptions, contradictions, or that dreaded condescending tone.

It’s exhausting. And unfortunately, it’s far too common for those of us living with chronic illness.

Recently, I had one of those appointments. The kind that leaves you second-guessing yourself, even though you know your concerns are valid. The kind that shakes your confidence in your care.

I won’t go into all the details here—but I wrote about what happened, and more importantly, what I did next to reclaim my sense of agency and peace.

Whether you’ve been dismissed by a doctor, talked down to, or told your symptoms were “just stress,” I want you to know:
✨ You’re not overreacting.
✨ You’re not asking for too much.
✨ You deserve care that respects your voice.

Medical self-advocacy isn’t always easy—but it is possible. And you don’t have to do it alone.

P.S. I made something to help.
The Medical Self-Advocacy Checklist is a free resource to help you prepare for appointments, remember what matters most, and follow up if something goes sideways. It’s one of the tools I wish I’d had sooner.

👉 Download it here—it’s free.

Let it be your reminder: you’re allowed to speak up. And you’re worth being heard.

Until next time,

Hey Reader, Have you ever looked around your space and thought, “I want to clean… but I just can’t today”? Same. And it’s not because we’re lazy. Hey there, Reader! Today marks the start of Disability Pride Month here in the U.S., in honor of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities act in July of 1990.
